Hello from Illinois

Hi. I'm Shirley and I am new to quilting board and I live in Illinois. Although I love quilts and quilting, truth be told, I spend more time thinking about quilting than actually doing it. It's hard to find the time to do actual quilting when you work full-time. I do manage to complete a couple of quilts a year though, and that seems to be just enough right now to feed my soul. I'm looking forward to quilting vicariously no doubt, through all of you and to also learn a bit more about quilting and my other sewing passion which is vintage sewing machines.

Welcome from another Illinoian....across the river from St. Louis. I know what you mean about not finding the time. I have a million quiltls all planned but no time to start them.

Welcome from Alabama!!!

Welcome from Japan! I used to live in Illinois too! I also work full-time, with a commute, and my advice is to join a few of the block swaps and you will be amazed how much more focused you become!

Howdy and welcome, from Texas!

deedum 09-19-2013 04:43 PM

welcome from central Illinois! I got the quilting bug too, the vintage machine bug, the embroidery bug, sewing bug and little time to do it! Sounds like your in the right place! Shirley, I work full time too so I know what you mean. I think when I retire I will have a great hobby to retire to! That is my plan anyway, so tonite I bought more fabric for my plan. HA! What part of Illinois are you from?

Emma S 09-19-2013 04:48 PM

Welcome, Shirley! Before I retired I bought more fabric and designed more quilts on EQ5 than actually producing quilts. I think you are doing great for working full time. Please post your creations. Welcome from Oregon.

Another Illinoisian checking in ... Grundy county here.
Another full-time employee, plus I own a business making sowing machines (that's not a typo ... we make machines that sow seeds <g>). I also manage about 2 quilts per year.
And another Vintage machine 'collector'.

QB is a great place when you are actually quilting and need a question answered. The rest of the time, it's a great "enabler" of "ooooh ... I want to make a quilt like that!".

I'm from the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. And, I hardly ever venture into Chicago. I love the slower suburban pace, LOL!

If you like slower ... try it out here in the corn fields :) A heavy traffic day is when the combines are out at the same time as the school bus :)

Hi Shirley, welcome from a former resident of Illinois, now living in Arizona. This is a great place to learn and share quilting experiences. I just know you will be inspired.
