Hi from NC. You have some competition in the UFO department.

By all means you need help and some stress relief. Check with your local department of aging or some equivilent service in your town/city/county. There is also an area agency on aging in every area of the country. Look for them in phone book and they can steer you to the kind of services available like day care, home health, and an amazing array of services for folks in your and your mother's shoes. Just one day a week off can make a big difference in your stress level and your ability to do right by your Mom. I give this advice after serving six years on the board of the county dept. on aging in my poor, rural county. I'm now in my second term on the advisory board of the area agency which covers seven poor rural counties. That group is federally funded in part and exists across the country.

Hi, I am so new to this site, I didn't know how to find a way to write to you. I am on the other side of the state, near Benton Harbor. My town is Dowagiac. But I am (if my mother is ok) going to Quilt-N-Go's retreat Nov. 13, 14, 15, and 16. I have going to that one before and it is so much fun. It is in Shipshawana (not sure of the spelling) I am meeting friends from Detroit and if you can come it would be a great foursom.
I make plans with the statement if I can. So far my mother is doing well enough that my husband can take care of her, but we know that one day that will not be the case.
Have you seen the bow tie block that you make with folds? I just saw it and I am going to make a quilt for my grandson for college. At least I hope I will get it done. He goes to college next fall.

Hi, Thanks for the information. We have Hospices, and I just got a volunteer for Tues. nights so that I can go to sit and sew. My husband cares for my mother when I am gone. So we give each other breaks. No way could I do this with out him. He is so wonderful with her and lets me get away when I need to.
I have tried to get her to go to Council On Aging, but she was never a person who did things outside the home, except trailer in the winter with my father. Even after he died she drove their 35 foot motor home by herself and went with their close friends all over in the winter.
I do know how much these agencies help people. I am so glad they are there. Marilu
