Hi, guys! I'm the daughter of a great seamstress, but I am totally new to sewing myself. My mom always wanted me to learn and I never put any effort into it until I got married and had a baby. Now the need strikes! hehe
I just got a Singer 15-91 and I'm totally in love with it! I still have lots to learn regarding to how to use it, but I've been reading wonderful topics in these forum that have been very helpful. I'll be around! Nice to meet you all! :) |
Hi Priscila! Your story is almost identical to mine. I had absolutely no interest in sewing until I had my first baby :)
But my Mom is not a seamstress, in fact she only sewed a little and there are no sewers in my family!! |

Oh, you will want to check out the Vintage Sewing Machine Shop under the Main category. There is a regular group of people who hang out there and discuss their vintage and antique machines. There is also a thread in Pictures of Vintage Sewing Machine Pictures. You should put up a picture of yours.
Welcome!! You're among friends here! |

Wow! I'm amazed on how many people this forum has! Nice to meet everyone! :D
How did you guys start being interested into sewing? I remember that I started wanting to fix clothes at home, fix curtains, make couch pillows... And never could because I didn't have a swewing machine! Initially that's what motivated me to get one. Still need to get started though! I'll have to do some self-teaching for now since I never found sewing classes here where I live and my mom is far away in Brasil right now. She said she is going to teach me through Skype. :P |

Priscila, As I told you I started after my first baby was born. It seemed like overnight I wanted to be all motherly and girly, and sewing just seemed right. We were young and on a tight budget so my Mom told my Dad I needed a sewing machine to make the baby some clothes :) He did, then she told him I needed scissors, pins, etc and he came through with everything, bless his heart!! Of course I bought the stuff. He would have had no idea what to get, he gave me the money though.
What treasured memories, and funny too, to hear my Mom tell him all that I needed :) |

You'll love it here! |
Hi and welcome from Northern California! I learned to sew when I was 13 and by the time I was 16 I was sewing cloths for other to earn some money. I only sew kids cloths now and spend most of my time making quilts or scrapbooking (my other passion). Since joining this board I also got a 15-91 and 4 other vintage machines. Love them.
