Good afternoon Gem, welcome from Boyd County, Kentucky! Hope you enjoy your 'chat' time as much as I have. I have learned so much from quilters with such talent on this site that I am amazed! You will have a bed cover for your daughter before long at all.

Welcome. First of all you want to pick an easy pattern, there are some good ones in the tutorial section of this board. Then sandwich it basting close together, I find that spray basting is the best, you could also look that up on this board, it's quick and easy peasy. Then you quilt it. I would stick with machine quilting if you want to get it done fast. I would also do some easy quilting like stitch in the ditch. then square it, and bind it. There you go you have a beautiful work of art. Hope I helped.
