Hi,
I'm from N.C., enjoy quilting, painting and reading. I retired from nursing 4 years ago. I feel as though I'm making up for lost time.

I'm from N.C. I have been quilting for a year now. I've enjoyed traveling to the mountains to visit the many quilt shops. Do you ever come back to N.C. to visit?

I've always been a "reader" of posts but never joined in. I'm taking the plunge and joining. :-) I live in the Twin Cities Minnesota area. I am a first time Grandmother with a beautiful Granddaughter who lives in California :( but keep in touch through lots of pictures and telephone conversations. I have been quilting for four years and love hand quilting. My smallest project was a wall hanging of Coffee Pot Rock of Sedona AZ and still working on my largest project, a king size Hawaiian quilt. I wish all a blessed Thanksgiving Day!

Hello Nubby,

I am not close to retirement yet, but I have been saving up patterns and dreaming of the day that I might have time to dig in! My life has only permitted me to have completed small projects, but I am working on a twin signature quilt, and a sampler from Egg Money Quilts that will be queen size. Since I hand quilt, there is no telling when I will be done!!

:D
Hi Janet.
I also live in North Carolina. I have started back quilting in the past year. I have completed one quilt so far. This was last Christmas. This was for my youngest son who is 25. I am working on another one now for my oldest son and his wife. My goal is to finish this one and then make one for myself and my husband. You know you have to take care of the children first.

Ellen 11-23-2006 12:12 AM

Hi,

I'm Ellen from near Clearwater, FL and I've been quilting since 1977. I suppose I've made all sizes and mostly machine quilt but do have a few I hand quilted. I made many, many crib size quilts last year........I told the nieces and nephews to stop drinking the water.

I have 2 stepchildren in AL........one DS married with our first grandchild and the other, a DD, getting ready to marry in January. I tried to teach her E-L-O-P-E but it didn't work. Her wedding quilt is ready for binding which I hope to get to after tomorrow. I need to make an alphabet quilt for little Sarah for Christmas but don't have to have it done until January when we go up for the wedding.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE

Hi My name is Kathy and I am a quilting fool and a fabricohlic. I have sewn all my life but just got into quilting about a year ago and can't get enough of it. I am retired and live in a remote area of eastern Colorado with my husband and two puppies (a border collie and a golden retriever/yellow lab 7 and 5 months old) It's beautiful here and I can sew to my heart's content but boy do I have alot of questions sometimes. Alot of what I have learned about quilting is from magazines, books and the screw-up method.
Thanks, Kathy

Hello, everyone. I am in Northern Virginia and have been quilting about 3 years. Trying to, anyway. Until 2000 I lived in Oklahoma and plan to move back in a few years when we retire. That's Sapphire and Evelyn in the picture to the left. You can't see her, but Jezebel was in the back biting the puppy's tail. They are all Samoyeds.

Barbara 11-26-2006 08:15 PM

Hi, I'm Barbara in southern Oklahoma and am teaching 4H sewing/quilting and have so many things to learn. Can anyone give me an idea how to quilt around pictures?

Barbara 11-26-2006 08:23 PM

Hi, I've been asked to teach quilting at the Senior's center after the first of the year...they probably know more than me. I teach 4Her's 9-13. Can you give me any ideas that may be helpful?

Boo 11-27-2006 02:00 AM

Barbara, congratulations on being asked to teach. They must believe you have skills to share and you should feel honored.

This section of the message board is for introductions, so we can get aquainted. Questions, conversations, tips, etc. need to be posted in the Main catagory. I am sure you will get many responses and suggestions in that area.

I also would like to applaud you for teaching the next generation of quilters. Your incouragement of creativity will give these kids a gift that will last a lifetime. Thank you. :D

Hi Debbie I also live in Calif, riverside so we are somewhat neighbors. Another thing we have in common is the beagles, I have 1 and she is a handful..if I am not careful she runs off w/ the material and thinks its hers.
I am 51 have 3 grown children and 3 grand daughters. My first sewing machine is a kenmore and I call her "OLD FAITHFUL" she has never let me down and only needs minor repairs every now & then. Just purchased a White 4400 embroidery machine, haven't even attempted to play w/ it.I bought it sew I could machine embroidery but I do love to hand embroidery, I find it very relaxing. Ok time for another cup of coffee....[~]

Hi Happy Quilters!
My name is Linda, and I just moved to a new home in Buckeye, Arizona.
This seems like a neat place to get all kind of info on quilting. I have already learned new ideas already. I lived all my life in Southern California, and have only been here 1 year. I am so glad I have a love of Quilting because quilting has been a real comfort to me during this transition in my life. I look forward to learning more from all of you in the quilting world and meeting new friends!
Linda
