Texan is definately a language! I am a transplanted New Mexican and call myself a Newtexican. I have live here more than half my life. I was accused of having a "Southern" accent before I ever left NM. Don't know what my accent is!
WELCOME!!

WELCOME!!

Latest research indicates there may be as many as 100 Texas accents. We W. Texans do not sound like people from Dallas, Houston, San Antonio or Galveston. Just enjoy it when "they" say, "Talk for us, Sugar," and lay it on thick.

I teach music in a public elementary school, so do most of my quilting during the triple digit dog days of summer. We had our first rain in ten months this weekend. Might have gotten as much as an entire quarter of an inch. As a native Oregonian, my survival here in the Permian Basin is due entirely to the miracle of air conditioning!

Just finished a little wall quilt for my older daughter's kitchen. Am currently posting online INSTEAD of working on the stripey quilt I'm trying to finish for my baby daughter to take with her to college in a couple weeks. So, I really must stop looking at all your pretty pictures and make progress on making her something pretty to take with her to Aggieland!

Looking forward to getting acquainted with all uh y'all's. (Also working on my bi-lingual [Yankee-Texan] certification!)

HI. was surprised to see someone else from Odessa. i was born in Illinois but have lived in Odessa since 1961. I'm old, and you're probably young. but we could meet sometime and i can introduce you to many other quilters at betty's bobbin box, have you been there? i go there a lot. they have classes on all kind of different things. they also have an embroidery club once a month. We all have a lot of fun & there with a bunch of nice ladies what school do you teach at? i live across the street from Goliad Elementary. let me know if you want to meet me and others, there's a website you can go to, it's

Well, HEY!!! When all you Odessa Ladies get together over here in Midland to buy fabric, give me a call! I'd love to meet all of ya'll!!
I live in Midland, but grew up up the road in Lubbock, so don't worry about that Yankee accent...I have a "mixed marriage"...I married a sweet fella fron Ohio, so I reckon I can understand MOST of what you say!
P.M. me, and lets all go have a glass of tea!

dojo36 08-04-2011 01:56 PM

that sounds like fun and i'd love to do that.
