Greetings, O Most Honored and Creative Ones! I have been reading this site for months but am new to posting. Thank you all for the inspiration I've garnered.
I teach music in a public elementary school, so do most of my quilting during the triple digit dog days of summer. We had our first rain in ten months this weekend. Might have gotten as much as an entire quarter of an inch. As a native Oregonian, my survival here in the Permian Basin is due entirely to the miracle of air conditioning! Just finished a little wall quilt for my older daughter's kitchen. Am currently posting online INSTEAD of working on the stripey quilt I'm trying to finish for my baby daughter to take with her to college in a couple weeks. So, I really must stop looking at all your pretty pictures and make progress on making her something pretty to take with her to Aggieland! Looking forward to getting acquainted with all uh y'all's. (Also working on my bi-lingual [Yankee-Texan] certification!) |

Hello and welcome from the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

So far this year, we've received .16 of an inch of rain. Average is 5.6 inches. Seems like someone could figure out a pipeline on the lines of the Alaska pipeline, to move excess water to where it's needed! A mutual benefit for those poor folks up north that are in flood plains and those of us in severe drought. I don't know if such a thing is even possible, but what a blessing it would be to millions.

Welcome from Lewisville, TX. Lived out that direction about 30 years ago for 6 years. It was hot during the day but at least it got cool at night because of the desert climate.
