This is great advice..just relax and enjoy it..if your sewing straight seams..check your cuts and make sure your seams are the same on all..doesn't matter really if their a perfect 1/4" just so they're all the same !!

Sure - don't give up!! My first 9-patch was a disaster as was my first log cabin. You'll learn a lot here & we don't judge - we just like having fun & quilting. We all started somewhere once upon a time. Welcome from hot central Arkansas!

Do the best you can to get the seams to match, but don't worry yourself to death over it. The rule is, "If it can't be seen from a galloping horse, it probably doesn't matter." If you don't have a 1/4 inch foot for your sewing machine, it is well worth the investment to get it. Welcome aboard! froggyintexas aka "looks good enough to me"

Welcome from the Bay Area of California. I'm in the same boat as you are and I've been sewing for 40+ years!

Reality standpoint - if you are a perfectionist or just hate to see the unmatched seams, then baste the joints first, check them, THEN stitch the seam. If something doesn't match, your seam was either off or the block was cut wrong. First choice, redo the seam. Second choice, tear it all out and recut the block.

I'm doing a Disappearing 9 Patch (D9P) right now and having conniption fits now on this issue. I've got the feet and the seam, but am not consistent in how I do my seams. Since I don't sew frequently, I'm not in practice.

You can do it - but just get used to Jack (the ripper)! Welcome aboard.
