Friend of mine has been talking about this board for some time now so I thought may as well check it out. She doesn't think I would be interested because I am not a traditional quilter, my interest is in art quilts. I do traditional quilts occasionally, I love long arm quilting as well as free motion. I love fabric and consider myself a fabric fondler, so I have joined this board.

I need to thank everyone who has contributed to the Afghanistan barrack quilt project. Thank you!

Another big welcome from Ohio! What kind of machine do you use for your long arm quilting? The quilting is the best part --- I'm one of those strange people who doesn't like to piece!

Artsavvy 02-13-2011 07:24 AM

I don't like to piece either, I do like to quilt though. I have a HQ16 which is perfect for me. Not interested in quilting except for me, my daughter-in-law, and charity. I love art quilts. So wonderful to know there is someone else out there who doesn't like to piece. I can piece for hours if it is a tag team and someone else is assembling and I am on the sewing machine, don't mind that at all. We do that occasionally for someone's cause.

Artsavvy 02-13-2011 07:28 AM

Your pic looks like an art quilt. Sure will post when something new is finished...sure am glad I joined this board.

I don't mind being on the sewing machine, IF I can get someone else to man the iron! I do all of my half-square triangle piecing on my longarm, so that doesn't bother me. When I get a little antsy it's because I'm almost done sewing the rows together, and everything starts to pull because of the weight!

penski 02-13-2011 11:32 AM

hello and welcome from Illinois

Artsavvy 02-13-2011 12:14 PM

Ironing is not my favorite either, have seen all kinds of things being done on the longarm but not half square triangles....have to think about that. Was thinking yesterday about how to do a flannel rag quilt. Thought perhaps put all the squares together and then mount on frame and then do the stitching in the squares.
