I originally introduced myself in January as currently living in TX but moving to MI this summer--Ann Arbor area. I knew nothing of the area and many wonderful members said"Hi", and to let them know where we bought a house. Thought it would be easier to re-introduce myself because I now have a home in MI and am a little familiar with the area, having traveled back and forth to the new house several times since January. The new house is in Pinckney which is a hop, skip and a jump to many of you in the area--Chelsea,Brighton, Howell,Ann Arbor, areas west of Detroit. Would love to get acquainted with you. I am used to driving in TX any where I wanted to go, so don't feel bad if you are not in my "back yard"--lol ! Drop me a message and then I can send you my email address so we can get to know one another. Sue

Hello! I just joined a couple of days ago but I have lurked around the board for a while. I know exactly where you are. My other half is from Brighton Howell area. As soon as I finish school, we will be (hopefully) moving to Michigan. We have been looking in the pickney-ann arbor area!

mimisue 06-06-2011 07:43 PM

Hi Ruth--gosh this is exciting that you will be moving to the same area. I won't be officially living there until middle of August. We found a beautiful house off Chilson Rd between 23 and M36 about 10 mins from Brighton. My husband painted in Feb and April the upstairs, had painters come in last month and finish painting the first floor since hubby had knee surgery. Previous owner did little yard work so we are playing catch up and will be working most of the summer to finish it whenever we get up there . We haven't even listed our house in TX , and hubby still has a job here so he will be staying in TX until house is sold. More details to follow. sue

How wonderful for you!!!! I have another year of school and my other half works for a supermarket (21 years) so we have to make sure that there is a job opening to transfer to. I can't wait to leave Indiana in my dust (long, difficult past 3 years). I just love Michigan. We are going camping this weekend in Ludington at the state park. We were just in Ann Arbor a couple of weeks ago. Be sure to check out the Field's Fabric Stores. They are all over Michigan. Can be pricey but have all quality fabrics re: Moda, Michael Miller, Free Spirit etc. We come to Michigan couple times a year just to hit the Field's stores to get my fabric fix!!! I've gone to four in just one trip!!!

Be sure to get breadsticks from Gus's It is in front of Meijer in Brighton. They are to die for! I think it is only a carry out place but they have great Italian food. Gus's is related to Tomato Brothers in Howell which is the sit down resteraunt. Great Italion food there too!!!

I am an ex Michigander now in Wisconsin. I am so jealous of the number quilters that are from the State of Michigan. I was from a suburb of Detroit and have noticed many from around that area
give or take a few miles.

Thumbelina 06-07-2011 12:15 PM
