Hello, I am or was a quilter. Still have all my stuff. I was looking for a forum for a quilty friend and found this awesome site.
I do have a question. Does anyone hand quilt any more? I went to the county fair and all the quilts were machine done. All very beautiful, but I was dissapointed that not one entry hand done. Am I outdated with this idea? I love the hand work involved. I still have one in the hoop and another folded but ready to go back int the frame. I didn't finish them because stuff happens. So guess I'm still in progress! |
I entered a hand quilted one in the fair and won a blue ribbon.
Welcome, you will like it here |
Hi and welcome from Oregon. I am sure that there are people on here that still do hand quilting.
There is a lady that goes to my sewing group on Tuesdays that hand quilts. And does a wonderful job of it too. I actually am not sure if she even uses a sewing machine. Hmmm I will have to ask her. |

Hello and welcome from Ontario Canada. Yes, I still hand quilt. I prefer it to machine quilting. I am in the middle of hand quilting a queen size log cabin quilt for my son for Christmas. It's a long process but I will eventually get it done.

Hi! Welcome to the board.

Hi from SE Minnesota! I still love to hand quilt, and would do more if I had the time. Four or five years ago I realized that the stack of tops would never be finished, so I taught myself to machine quilt. It did free me up to quilt more of them, and save the very special ones to hand quilt. It also made me more willing to part with them. I have spent up to a year hand quilting a quilt and would get kind of attached to them, especially when I also hand pieced them! At the rate of 1 per year the bucket list wasn't going to empty - ever (not that it will anyway)...

Welcome from Missouri. I was born before machine quilting and I still love the look of a hand quilted quilt. I have always machine pieced though.
