Hi All
Hello everyone,
I’m a surgical nurse that uses quilting and baking to destress. I made my first quilt in 2009 and haven’t stopped since. Who would have thought cutting fabric into small pieces and sewing them back together again could be so relaxing! 😉 4333221 |

Hi and welcome from North Carolina! Before I started quilting, 100 years ago, I thought quilters were nutty to cut up perfectly good fabric to sew the pieces together. I even had an article published ridiculing the practice. Oh, how dumb was I!!

Hi and welcome from Maine, lots of encouragement and great information here. I too use quilting to destress. I work in a busy surgical orthopedic office and there is something therapeutic about cutting up all that gorgeous fabric and sewing it back together into a beautiful quilt, quilt on.....

Welcome to the boards and and the hobby. I did office work most of my career and when you do it correctly the stuff just moves off your desk, always busy and yet never quite done except for whatever deadlines going on. With the quilting I have control over what I do and I can see it. I know that I cut those 780 squares or whatever I'm doing. Makes me feel good to have something physical to point to and say "I did that". Also good to know that in the grand scheme of things, nothing much bad is going to happen :) even if something does go wrong or not according to plan.
I'm finishing up my current project and getting ready to cut the next one -- yes, I am going to have some fun slicing and dicing my fabric! |
