Hi again, Kim. I'll be checking out your town on a map when I get off the computer. In case you're interested, Peterborough is just north east of Toronto, Ontario and south west of Ottawa. We are closer to Toronto. My identical twin, Melanie, has two daughters with children. Kelly lives just up the road from me and I look after her fraternal twins, a girl and boy, (3 years old) from time to time these days. There were times when it was a day or two a week. I miss them when I don't see them much. I don't know how Mel can stand being away from them for so long (since before Christmas). She and hubby are in Southern California at the moment. Kelly is expecting another baby in August. Just one this time. As I know Mel likes to make a flannel comforter/quilt for her grandchildren I will not be making one for the baby's crib  It would have been fun. Well take care and Happy quilting. Mo

Hi to you in sunny Florida. Where abouts in Florida. We have been going to your sunny state for the last 3 years for about 5 weeks. My husband has a childhood friend who lives year-round near Palm Bay. We spend some of our time near them so we can visit when they're not working. Then we spend a bit of time here and there. From Daytona to Key West. We have stayed in Hollywood on the coast a couple of years and love the boardwalk and beaches there. Last year we trailered my husband's Harley and couldn't stay there because of parking problems. This year we are leaving the bike behind, though we got more use out of it in Florida then we did here. We are kept busy with our properties on the lake and fun time takes second seat. We also don't seem to have time for boating either... only got out twice last year.
Oh well maybe this year.... by the way what's your first name?

Thanks for the 'welcome.' I hope you are not in an area being hit by the heavy rains and mudslides!

I am looking forward to getting to know some 'fellow quilters' here on Quilting Board... though I am a newbe to quilting I already love working with fabrics/colours and patterns... probably the artist in me!

Well happy quilting grandma1 (do you have a first name I can use?) Hope you are loving being a grandma as much as my identical twin, Melanie. Her one daughter lives near me and I look after her fraternal twins (girl & boy 3 years old) from time to time and love it! She's expecting again - (one this time!) in August. Kelly's twins and Jody's (Mel's other daughter) two girls are the closes I'll be to being a grandma for a while I think!
Take care and happy quilting.

Ah Mary, you may live to regret the offer of help! But, first I'll pick the brains and skills of my neighbour and friend, who I get together with on Tuesdays. She's amazing! I keep telling myself I'm not going to get addicted, as I love doing so many other things, but...

My identical twin and I are 57 (going on 58). She has been one of my greatest gifts from God. Though we don't 'crowd' each others lives, we are very close. (She and her husband are in the San Diego area at the moment.) We no longer are as identical looking as we were, life experiences, and different taste in hair styles etc...mostly. Though when we put an effort into it we can look like we are suppose to be identical. There are still people who will see us separately and not be sure who we are...

Have you ever heard of Twinsburg, Ohio (southeast of Cleveland)? They have a twin festival every year on the first weekend of August. Mel and I have gone twice now and love it. Many people go every year and one year one set of identical twins married another set of identical twins at the festival, as it was where they met growing up.... Really worth the trip. You come away expecting to see doubles everywhere. They have a website which you could probably google. It is far enough away that we can't go often, but we've met other twins that would only miss it they had no choice. Amazingly you can make life-long friends who look forward to seeing you each time. Even not going often we look forward to seeing the friends we made, the next time we go. Thousands of twins, identical and fraternal, triplets, quads etc... attend. Almost all of them will dress the same that day... boy/girl will where the same t-shirt or colour t-shirts... if you see what I mean. There is a parade leading to the festival grounds and then they have entertainment, food convienners, arts and crafts, science and business kiosk where twins (identical) are paid to fill out questionaires (Melanie and I got $15.00 each for about 15 minutes of our time... it was fun. There are other opportunaties but as we are Canadians, and also don't live close, we are excluded; some would take place over months. There are also rides and of course an amazing fireworks display! As you can see it is a well organized annual event. If you were ever tempted, there are also a lot of quilting place among the Amish in the area...
