I got here by accident the other day but found a topic that really got me excited and so I registered myself to be a member. Thanks... I have 5 grown kids, 17 Grand Kids and just 2 weeks ago had the second of my Great Grand Kids.
I lots of interest but just reaching an age of my life that I can act on some of them. Quilting is one that has been on the back burner for a long time. I do machine embroidery and that will go very well with quilting I think.
BTW the topic that got me here and so excited is One Block Wonders
Thanks for allowing me to be here.

Wow we are almost neighbors. I am closer to Tomball than actually in Houston. Hwy 6 No becomes 1960 and you are just a few miles from me.
Would love a GTG some time.

Thank you all for such a warm welcome. I have already learned a lot from this board. Wish that some day we could all meet in person.

Sounds great. I haven't been there in 8 or 9 years. We always meet in Arkansas.

Welcome... even if it was by acceident!

My best friend married a guy from Houston, and abandoned me in October.

I just sent her some documents for the middle part of her immigration application.

I miss her A LOT! but she LOVES Houston, and they are going to be buying a house in Clear Lake because her husband teaches at a Junior College in that area.

I am saving to come down in November for the Quilt Festival, we have another set of friends that are Canadian who also live down there and LOVE it too.. and she goes, so I have 2 places to stay and someone to go the festival with!!!

You will love the Quilt Festival, wear comfy shoes and know ahead of time that you can not possibly see the whole thing in 2 days. Give a shout out when you are here maybe we can arrange some time.
My daughter lives in the Clear Lake Area.

Well, now, that's a clever name for a building with four walls and a roof that protects all our valuables! Reading these comments reminds of my time in Texas. Just out of college I drove with my brother as he took a job in Houston. I lived with him in Clear Lake until he married, then I shared apartments with about 4 different roommates until I decided I just wasn't finding the right kinds of friends. When he got transferred back to Illinois, I sent my stuff along with his. I must admit, I do kinda miss the temps. WELCOME from Illinois.

I think that you're thinking of Dozier's. They're still here and do barbeque, fresh meats, process deer, etc. Fulshear has grown a lot though. Lots of new housing.

Yes that is the one. I used to make sure my ex would take me to get Pepper Cured Shoulder Slug. OMGAWD! Now I have done it. I will have to go out that way soon and get some. Wini - House of BCC in Houston

SewExtremeSeams 04-12-2010 08:52 PM

Hi Wini,

Well you and I already have a lot in common. My birthday is the same as yours, my sister lives in Houston (well, just outside), I raised five kids but I only have 7 grandchilren. My husband bought me a 2004 Bernina Embroidery machine last year. I have spent a year learning how to sew on computerized sewing machines. Quite different from my simple 1975 Bernina 830!!

I am glad you signed up. Hope you enjoy everything, espeically all of the tips and encouragement. Please PM me if you would like to. I would love to hear from you.

Linda

Hello and Welcome. I am just southeast of Houston. Tomball is about an hour from me. My Aunt use to live there, we loved visiting. So is that lunch invitation open to anybody?lol I want to do a one block wonder quilt to. I have the book and have ready it about hmmmm 5 times now. K3N (here on the board) was trying to help me, but I am soooo scared to cut it. I even ruined another fabric to practice on lol. So for now it will just sit there until someone can physically show me.

My door is always open of course you may have to step over or move a tub of fabric or whatever. I promise I am not a Hoarder, I just collect good stuff for sewing, embroidery, quiliting etc.
Saturday another friend is coming to do some OBW lay outs. You are more than welcome. PM me if you would like to come.
