Welcome aboard! I'm turtlerouge from PA. You will learn alot & perhaps will even try the chatroom.
This a great place to ask questions, look up answers in so many ways that you think your head is spinning. Spinning from thinking about so many ways of making a new quilt.

Have fun & again, welcome!

WELCOME TO YOU! YOU WILL LOVE THIS SIGHT, EVERYONE IS SO HELPFUL . I KNOW YOU WILL LOVE QUILTING. YES YOU CAN SEW THE BINDING TO THE BACK AND WRAP IT AROUND TO THE FRONT OF YOUR QUILT TO BE MACHINE SEWN TO THE FRONT. IF YOU WANT TO HAND SEW IT SEW IT TO THE FRONT THEN HAND SEW IT TO THE BACK. MOST BINDINGS ARE MADE FROM 2 1/2" STRIPS SEWN TOGEATHER, THEN IRONED IN HALF. SEW THE RAW EDGES OF YOUR BINDING TO THE RAW EDGES OF YOUR QUILT WITH A 1/4" SEAM. SEWING THE BINDING TO THE BACK HELPS WHEN YOU WAND TO MACHINE SEW THE BINDING. BECAUSE YOU CAN CONTROL WHERE THE STICHING GOES. i SOMETIMES ESP. FOR KIDS USE A DECORTIVE STICHON THE BINDING. IT WILL GIVE IT A LITTLE EXTRA SOMETHING.

Welcome from Montana! I will be driving through northern Illinois in about 3 weeks! I bind most of my quilts by pulling from the back, because I hate hand sewing. If you enter your quilts to be judged, most judges don't like that and will mark you down. But as long as you are aware of that going in, do it the way you want to. Remember, no rules! (Just occasional suggestions)!!!

Welcome to the board from Southern California!!!
I have failed miserably with that type of binding. For me it was easier to just square up the whole quilt and do a separate binding.

Hello.

I think you can tell from everyone else that the answer to your binding question is a resounding yes! It's less intimidating to use that method on your first quilts. I'm quite new at this quilting lark myself, welcome to the board. Everyone here is great, helpful and friendly. Hope you enjoy it here.
