My name is ann1083 and I am a beginning quilter but my quilting heritage is huge and I have collected and inherited many quilts over the years. My favorites have to be--I have 2 from 2 different great grandmothers, one of whom I knew and loved (unfortunately the other died before I was born)and I must say the one I knew was a quilter to beat all--I just wonder how many quilts my Mammy made--amazing! She had 12 children--made quilts all the time for them; made double wedding rings for all her grands. My sis & I were the 1st of the great grands and she said "there will be so many of you--I'm stopping right here" can't say that I blame her! But my mother and my mother-in-law quilted too--both passed now. We have 5 grandchildren--1 of my GC is getting ready to turn 16 in August so it is high time I start a legacy for these 5. I look forward to learning--I am here to learn so feel free to advise, correct--I am open to any help.

thanks ya'll for all the welcomes--I'm originally from Kentucky and will never ever give up "ya'll"--"you all" takes just soo long to say! giggle! and yes I know I will have lots & lots of questions--sad to say--I will be a machine quilter--those beautiful hand-stitched ones handed down are not for me as I have hand tremors. But God has blessed me in so many other ways--I am taking joy in trying to learn to quilt the new way. you will find out I have a quirky sense of humor so don't be afraid to tease me if i am dense--i can be slow to catch on and then have the "duh--oh- now I get it!" moment quite often! lol

ooh you are sooo lucky--miss the Bluegrass State so much--am a rabid UK fan!

welcome from central Illinois, originally from southern Indiana. Sounds like you already have the quilting bug. It matters not how you quilt. Your way is yours. Appreciating quilts for what they are -- history in our hands when they are from the past--to me is the greatest part, and it doesn't hurt that they are beautiful to look at and warm to sleep under.

my profile pic shows me and a Manx kitten, Tibby, we adopted from a shelter--he was pure white with sandy tipping--he died suddenly in the middle of the night just after he turned 1--around the 1st of Oct. We heard moans from our walk in closet about 1 am and by the time we found him, he was gone. In the pic, he is "smurgling"--had to check that out--he loved that fuzzy blue robe and would suck on it and go to sleep from when he was tiny--tibbers always wanted to do that all his short life! no go unless I had it on! oh what I went thru for that cat--diet coke, ice tea, water but about half a hour was my smurgle limit! we had such a special bond. took me 1 1/2 yrs to get another cat--i did adopt a bunny 6 mos later--but never a Manx again--we never knew but....
