Since you wrote, "Hi from the middle of the mitten"...Are you from Michigan??? Just wondering since I am also....

Thanks for the reply...I am in Traverse City...nice to see someone from MI on here. I am just trying to get the nerve to start cutting blocks and am clueless as to how to start piecing the quilt together. I'm going to try a doll quilt first.

If you live near Evart we'd love to have you join our quilting club. We're not great but have a lot of fun.

I just have to ask....what is "the mitten"? :?:

In Michigan when someone asks where a place is, you hold up your hand and point to the spot on the "mitten".

And if you're in the UP (upper peninsula), you hold your hand crosswise with the thumb facing up. Who needs maps? LOL

Welcome from a former "middle of the mitten". I am originally from Lansing, lived in Detroit, Midland, Livonia, and Plymouth before moving to PA.

I camped every year near the tip of the ring finger on the mitten. It was always the week before and the weekend of Memorial day. I miss those days and my camping friends.

Hi from Kentucky! While you lived in Lapeer, I was living in Millington (not that far away and we claim to be in the Thumb too) til I went off to school at CMU (middle of the mitten). I was just back there last week spending time with the folks. Kentucky is pretty but I miss being able to go "up north" or "to the lake" on the spur of the moment.
