I am a brand new quilter. I have made several rag quilts and am finishing my first 4 patch. I would like to do a rail fence with 3 colors for a queen size bed. Can you please help me figure how much material i need? Thanks so much. You beautiful quilts are wonderful.

Hi and welcome from Spring, Tx.
Don't forget we also have a "search" section and tutorials right here on this board that can be very helpful. There are quite a few people that can calculate that for you - but better results will be had if you post your question under the "main" section.

Hi, Welcome from Ohio. New here too...but have been quilting for a while.

To Answer your question. I usually use EQ...or you can bring the pattern to your local quilt shop and see how much you need. Also there is a free rail fence quilt design at victorianaquiltdesigns.com. The design is for 72" x 84" and uses 3 yds of dark, 1.5 yds of medium, and 3 yds of light.

And.. I think there is a place to post questions here. Being new myself, can't remember where that is.

Good luck.
