Welcome from Atlanta! If you can't take classes then I recommend Eleanor Burns' books. She does the "Quilt in a Day" series and has lots of choices. She goes step by step with great diagrams and walks you through each little bit. I'm pretty experienced but doing a "Night and Day" of hers right now and I could have done it as a beginner as soon as I could sew a really good 1/4" seam....
