Hi everyone, I am very new to quilting and very fascinated by it. I watch all of the programs I can find, read as much as I can find and look, look, look at all of the beautiful quilts from everyplace I see them
Right now I am doing just sewing, catching up, but when I am done, I am going to try my hand, just a throw type. So until then I want to get as much information as I can.
Can anyone tell me what Quote, Code, List, and URL are for?
Thanks

Hello Denise!!

I just wanted to introduce myself. I live in Oklahoma too. Close to the AR border. I am brand new to the list as well. I have a little quilting experience. I am currently making my first non-lap size quilt. When it's finished it will be a queen.

I can furnish my email addy if you want it. It's just new for me to stumble across people from the same place as me.

Melissa

Yes we can email that would be nice. Yes it is wonderful to find someone from the same state on a forum like this. Makes the world not quite so huge. Know what I mean?
Here--is mine----go ahead and email me, and have fun with your quilting.

Hi Melissa, a Biblical Quilt are designs inspired by the Bible of the Old and New Testament, for example Noah Ark, Jacob's Ladder, Daniel and the lions etc, there are lots more, you cut out the pattern sew them together and applique, also i added more to the quilt than what the pattern call for., there are several books out there can explain it better than i can, by Rosemary Makhan More Biblical Quilt Blocks, if you're are interested let me know and i will give you some websites, i went to several websites to find everything i needed, my blocks finished 12" hope i help.

Sounds interesting. I am always keeping my ears open for patterns. Sounds like something great to give the pastor and his family. I was planning on a foundation pieced design unless I see something better. Definately sounds like something I should look into. Are these patterns difficult??

Hello Okies,
I know this thread is old, but I stumbled on it and wanted to say hi. I'm in Oklahoma, too. It feels good to see so many people from the Sooner state.

mpeters1200 07-13-2008 06:33 PM

Hello there Johnette. We don't live in OK anymore as we have moved back to NE. But we still visit there tons and my closest friends are there.

johnette 07-14-2008 03:54 PM

Hi mpeters, sorry you moved away but glad you'll come back to visit. I really like this state.

mpeters1200 07-15-2008 04:43 AM

I like it too, but it just never became home for me. We lived there 2 1/2 years and we are back "home" in Omaha. My husband has a slew of family down there as his mother was born in that area. I still have 5 nieces and nephews there as well as my friends so we plan to visit often.

I'm not from OK, but Hello and Welcome to the board from Washington State

Skeat 07-15-2008 07:34 PM

Welcome Denise!! You will so love quilting!! Just do something not too big for your first quilt. It's a good way to start and feel good about it too:)). My best learning tool was last year joining in some BOM's (blocks of the month) for they forced me to do different blocks and I learned so much from them. Keep us posted on what is flying under that presser foot!!:))Glad you joined in! Skeat

Hi Demise,

I don't live in Ok,either, but have frinds in Bixby Ok is that close to you. All I know is how to get to Bixby takes us about 3 hours from Missouri.

I have the book Trip around The World, have had it for years but haven't tried it yet.

And don't do l ike me,I have so many UFO's I don't know fi I will ever get caught up or not. I have been working on them, but about this time of year I start making Christmas things and get side tracted. I was making a log cabin, that had the big star in the middle,It was looking so good, but my star was all pooffed up in the middle. I have all the log cabin block made and have plenty of material left so My plan is to just make another star. It is made by the strip piecing. It is so hard to get back to them if I ever get caught up I will not leave one until it is done. My back bedroom on the bed I have them all layed out,and have a tub that I put them in when I am done. So far I have more on the bed than in the tub. I have three double wedding rings, one of the embrodered ones, all white blocks I think I got them at Wal Mart in the 80's. I have log cabin that I only have the border to finsih quilting, just two sides and it will be done. I will naver quilt a log cabin by hand again.I don't even buy materail until I have then done.

Pat

Patty44 08-08-2008 04:43 AM

Did I mention that the one with the star was started 5 or 6 year ago..Some are older than that. What a mess sometimes I just think I should take them to good will or a church and just start over.
