I have grown up all my life with quilting women. I am the 6th generation of women who have made quilts. Where they made them out of necessity, my mother and I made them because we just wanted to! I haven't made more than 3 quilts so far. I need to learn to do the "new-fast" way, and not the "draw-around-a-pattern-and-cut-it-out" way!! LOL Guess I should get with the 21st century! ;-)
I was introduced to this forum about a year ago, by my new-to-quilting friend..... who has taken off and gone gung-ho with the long-arm quilting! Yeah for her! I love everything on this forum, and hope to get inspired to start another quilt soon. :D

Welcome from the Medford, Oregon area! Love your quilting history. All the new ways are efficient, but I'm tickled pink to hear of someone doing it the "old" way, too! What a blessing to have grandmothers who quilted, too.

Nana to four 08-22-2011 08:49 AM

Did any of you ladies get to the Sister's Quilt Show this year? I went. The last time I had been was in the early 1990's. What a fun time! If you ever want to be motivated to make a quilt, that's the place to go!
Thanks for all your good wishes. :)

Oh, thanks for your comment! I was thinking that I was "odd". Today's quilting techniques are so different from what I learned! Quicker and you can do so many more things, but I enjoy the process of the old way.. :)
