I lurked for about ten minutes and decided to join. This is one active community! Wow!

Hello, my name is Shanelle. I'm 30, I live with my boyfriend in the Indianapolis metro area, and we share our house with a 12-year-old Corgi dog (his) and a 3-legged cat of indeterminate adult age (mine). I work in professional theatre as an electrician and my job is seasonal, which means summers are spent crafting my fingers off! 8-)

I'm still fairly new to quilting, but I'm not new to sewing--I can remember my mom working in her sewing room when I was a wee little thing, and she'd give my siblings and me fabric scraps, buttons and a threaded needle  to keep us out of her hair. I know I made a lot of vests for my Cabbage Patch doll, and I was probably 4 years old when I played with that thing? So I've been sewing at least that long. I just started quilting this past winter (I decided my sister needed a lap quilt for Christmas) and I've been going gangbusters ever since, learning as much as I can. I'm also a pretty serious knitter, and sometimes I play with embroidery. Fabric and fiber make me happy. :) In addition to the crafting, I'm a runner and a healthy-living nut, so I keep myself pretty busy. Some people, when they learn I don't work in the summers, talk about how they'd get so bored and go stir crazy. I just come back with "I might not work, but I have plenty to do!"

I'm looking forward to posting and reading here, and getting inspired by all the amazing work I've seen so far. Here's my latest finished effort, my third quilt ever. It's a crib quilt for a friend who is having her first baby. I gave it to her yesterday at the shower, and she loved it, so I'm happy!

Hi from Winnipeg, Canada. I've been reading this site for several months and have finally decided to join. I am relatively new to quilting having only started 3 years ago when I retired from teaching. I am loving it - both retirement and quilting.

Aw, shucks. Thank you! I don't really have any readers besides my boyfriend so my blog becomes more about entertaining myself than really conveying any useful information about anything. ;-) And I think he only reads it to be nice, since he already knows about everything I put up there... But yes, that was bacon on ice cream. It's good! I don't eat a lot of junky stuff, but when I do, I don't do it halfway.

Oh and go Saints! I'm a Colts fan (of course) but I'm cool with the Saints too. My guy was at Purdue at the same time as Drew Brees so he's a huge fan, and I end up watching them almost as often as the Colts.

You will find alot of Colts fans here (mainly fans of Peyton Manning-since he grew up here!). So for the Saints first Super Bowl, it was quite a show for us to have the Saints and Colts going head to head!

I'd like to add a warm welcome from Arizona where we have a very DRY heat! Finding this board you will come to learn is one of the best things that will have ever happened to you. Night or day, fellow quilters are here with words of support, help in finding things, fabric sales, technical expertise.......all at the click of a button. Pace yourself my dear, it's addictive and the more time you spend on the computer is less time to sew! hee hee. Seriously, it's what I call my happy place. Enjoy!

Thanks! I haven't hand-pieced anything yet, but someday I will have a grand magnum opus of a project. So far all my quilts have been gifts, so they needed to go quickly, but I do love hand-sewing.
