Trust me, I will try to never do that again. The machine was supposed to be off but wasn't and before I knew it, I had a stitch going through my nail into my finger. It is just one single stitch but does anyone know how to get it out? :XD:

My goose bumps are going down.... First put lots of ice on it! Then clip and remove thread, don't forget to breath. Welcome from West Tennessee.

mcdaniel023 08-17-2011 01:26 PM

Ouch! Welcome.

Izaquilter 08-17-2011 01:51 PM

cut the thread, pull fingers apart, stand up, stomp, cuss, stomp again. Repeat until you feel better

Sandra-P 08-17-2011 02:04 PM

Ouch, after you get it out put some antibiotic ointment or antiseptic on it. The numbing it with ice first is a good idea.

Clean it well and keep a close watch for a red line going up the arm...as you know if you do see this happening get yourself to a doctor ASAP or even sooner.

Make sure you're up to date on your tetanus shots...you never know!

I can't imagine how much that hurts! And I hope I never find out.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome from Minnesota!
I'm sorry to hear about your boo-boo!!
Hope it's feeling better by now!

Maia B 08-18-2011 01:32 AM

If you haven't had a tetanus shot in the last 10 years, definitely get that! Actually, Adacel (tdap) covers tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis (whooping cough), and you can it if you haven't had those vaccines in the last 2 years (I think). Just call your doc or immediate care center.

I think that should say" Clip the thread, TAKE A DEEP BREATH" and pull.
In over 55 yrs. of sewing, I have sewn through a finger about 4 times. Instinct is to immediately pull away (like a hot stove) but you really need to stop, breathe, think, and then act. Hurts a bit for a few days, but never had any complications. (Haven't hit the bone, just flesh wounds and nails punctured.)
