Welcome from Tennessee. There are all types of quilters here. Some do just hand work. Some do just piecing. Some do more long arm quilting for others. As long as you love and enjoy the part you do is all that matters. We are always here for help or praise.

Hello & welcome from Texas. You will learn a lot from the many experienced quilters on this board. Ask questions as there is always someone who will try to help you. I always learn from other quilter's questions. We love pictures & want to see your beauties so please learn how to post pictures. You can find just about anything on a you-tube tutorial so search the web for tutorials & I think that will help. It's sort of like having a teacher in your home with you. Enjoy your quilting experiences.

welcome from Maryland. I'm sorry you lost your aunt but glad she taught you and you're carrying on her love for quilting. Glad to know your mom's cancer is in remission. Your questions are a great contribution. everyone benefits from the answers. Don't be shy about asking. You won't know unless you ask. We are all at different points along the journey.

Welcome from NJ. I usually machine piece but do almost exclusively hand quilting. Enjoy the process - it's not a race.

That said, perhaps if you're having so much difficult with your machine it might be time for a new one?? I had an old White that just was not a great machine - 80's vintage. Ate fabric, tension always an issue, etc. I ultimately broke down and bought a computerized Viking. Best decision I ever made. It sews beautifully. I also have a couple of vintage machines that are great as well but the Viking is my 'go to' machine because of the features it has that were important to me.
