Hi, I'm Claire and a long time quilter, knitter, etc. When I was a child (mid-1930s) I had a fabulous quilt on my bed: blue border and white background, both quilted with the shape of the applique. The applique itself consisted of flower pots with tulips of all colors coming out of them. If anyone has seen such a pattern, or even has one, I'd be delighted to hear from you.

Thanks, [email protected]

Hi Claire and welcome from Texas. I haven't seen that pattern, but it does sound pretty and I hope someone is able to find the pattern for you.

Welcome. Check the library, they sometimes have quilt history books and the pattern or at least a picture may be in there. I looked to see if I had one in my old patterns but I guess I got rid of a lot of stuff when I had to move. :-(

Hello from Western Mountain Maryland !! :-D

RAChhap 05-15-2011 11:01 AM

It sounds like it might have been made from one of the kits that were popular then. You might google Kansas City Star. It was a newspaper that ran quilt patterns.

It sounds like it may have been made from one of the kits that were poppular then. You might try googling Kansas City Star quilot patterns. That was a newspaper that was famous for the quilt patterns they gave away or sold very inexpensively.

Hello Claire. I have this pattern but don't think it's from the 30's. You might try Google, University of Nebraska Quilt Museum to do a search.

IdahoSandy 05-15-2011 01:32 PM

Try your public library because they always have a lot of quilting books. Good looking.

Hi Claire. Welcome from East Tennessee. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the pattern you're looking for.

JulieTN 05-15-2011 04:00 PM

Welcome from The Great State of Tennessee!

YOu might want to find a copy of the book of Carrie Hall's pattern collection. She was an old time quilter. If yu could sketch the pattern, ever roughly, we might could help you find it.

Good uck
Julie

Hello and welcome from Maryland. I hope you find the pattern you are searching for, it sounds like it is lovely.

Jo Belmont 05-15-2011 04:40 PM

Here's an eBay seller (store) that has a ton of vintage Kansas Star patterns very reasonably priced (23 for $6 in most cases).

Also, if you Google Old Newspaper Quilt Patterns, you'll get a bunch of hits. Have fun exploring!
