My mother was 97 when she passed away a year ago. She made many quilts beautiful ones of course. Her only regret she
never counted how many made and so many that she gave away.
I quilted a nine patch when I was nine and she joined it and the year before she passed repaired it for me.
Just wanted to share that and I am new to your site.

Hi and welcome from Alaska. I have lost count and forgot most of the ones I did and I have not been quilting that long. They say to journal--who has time for that?

Hi and welcome, I too have lost count of the many quilts that I have given away. I only have 1 in my home that I have kept for myself but that is going to change very soon.

Hello and welcome from SW Iowa. My mom only made two quilts but one was for my oldest DD. It has been so loved over the years. She was the reason I took up quilting. I hope mine are loved as much as hers is.

Welcome from Alberta, Canada. I always say that I will take pictures of my quilts before they are given away but somehow I don't remember. I have a few pictures but most of them are long gone and forgotten or were lost in a house fire 6 years ago.

skydiver70 01-09-2011 10:24 PM

Welcome and let me say, I'm sorry for the loss of your mother.
Mine passed away 2 years ago next month. I really miss her. She and my grandmother quilted for many, many years. She never kept count either. I have some of them, but she quilted for so many others, up until 1998 when she lost the use of her right hand. She was only 52 when Daddy passed away and she had no income as she had never worked outside of the home. She quilted to make a living. She only charged $2.00 per hr. and I wonder how she really survived, except my husband and I paid her insurance until she was old enough to draw SS from my Daddy.

hi! not sure I hit the send key. Fran, thanks for responding.
I think I would start a journal and keep in sewing machine drawer it would have to be a routine. When you finish one
write it down.

Thanks, Fran

Hello, I haven't kept up with how many I have made either. Most of mine were lap quilts and one baby quilt. My avatar is my first large quilt although it wasn't opened all of the way.
