I'm just finishing up Turning 20 and I realize now how important it must be to baste. This is the second quilt I've attempted. And it's pretty much a disaster.

CircleSquare 03-04-2011 07:19 AM

Welcome from northeast Georgia!

dcrc966 03-04-2011 07:39 AM

Should I have basted first and then added my binding before I started quilting? I think I did it backwards.

Up North 03-04-2011 07:42 AM

Baste, Quilt then bind

CloverPatch 03-04-2011 07:42 AM

Binding usually goes on last, after the quilting. Since even the best pinned and basted sandwhich can shift during the quilting process.

Welcome from TN!

Hi and welcome from Arkansas!

clem55 03-04-2011 01:34 PM

Make sure you pull that backing real tight, then the batting and then your top. I use alligator clips and clip mine to the edge of a cutting board , then I pin from center out. I pin about 9 inches apart. Getting that sandwich done right is the hardest part for me! We are glad to have you here, and be sure to ask if you need help.

Cute picture- you even got the picture-taker in the picture! If you look at the bottom of this page, there is a section for tutorials. There is a lot of help there, too.

Welcome from Washington state!
