Hi and welcome from England.
Why not have a look at the tutorials on here. It might give you some ideas. You can just start very small and build bigger. Libraries also have books on various techniques. If you are not sure, why not look as some of the internet sites especially those that do block of the months. A simple block can look very effective done as a mug rug or a place mat, especially if you add borders. |
Welcome from Michigan.:)

Hi from Queensland...a quilter told me that the best thing to start on was a table runner. I,myself, found a beginners class had us start on a full sized quilt. For us it nearly turned us off quilting. :)
Enjoy what ever you decide to do |

Best thing is to take a beginning class at a local fabric or quilting store. Small initial $$, and you can decide if its really for you or not. |

Hello and welcome to QB, from western Nevada!

Welcome from another Aussie. I went to my LQS and took a class. I did do a full sized single quilt but it was all done by hand and I learnt alot. Maybe your LQS might have different classes available or you could find out if there is a quilting group where you live. I'm sure you would be welcomed....Welcome to the board, it is a wealth of information.

Hi from Happy Valley in South Australia, this site is amazing you will get plenty of help here. Before you go buying too many books and magazines check out your local library first they may have a good selection on Patchwork and Quilting. I, like you was very enthusiastic when I first started and bought just about every magazines I saw cos I liked everything, but when you look at all the lovely quilts on this site a lot of the ones in the magazines pale in comparison, also very quickly your tastes will change with experience. Check out web sites of fabric manufacturers they quite often have free patterns. My favourite designer is Jinny Beyer check out her site http://www.jinnybeyer.com.
