Hi everyone!

I am Alexis for VA. I am a homeschool mom to a 6 year old, and recently got back into quilting. I have made 4 and i am working on number 5 right now!

I also just got a new kenmore machine this week since I killed my old brother machine last week. It was very sad.

Anywhoo--I am excited to join here!

Hi and welcome! I also am new here, about 2 wks. I love it. Have already learned new things!

paojava 03-18-2009 05:48 PM

ok...well, I added an avatar...sorry it is so small!!!

We were out bowling and at taekwondo today...then dinner and ice cream. Hubby/daddy is out of town, so you would THINK I would be happily sewing along...no...all tv tonight.

this is my son bowling in PJ's last week with his homeschool league. Can you guess who the clown is? He is on a team with 3 girls. They think he is weird. They are right.

Oh...and I am currently working on blockcentral.com's Patchwork Panache. I have done through May. I should get off the PC and do a block before bed. Everything is cut out and parceled out...just need to actually piece it together. Now I am feeling guilty. I really should go do a block...

Welcome from Ohio....:-)

Hi Alexis - love your pics! I've got a 6 year old boy as well (and a 4 year old girl!) your boy isn't weird, maybe a little eccentric maybe LOL - but I bet PJs are really comfy for bowling in so he's right it's everyone else who's wrong! Love you block!

Hi Alexix -

Welcome from New Hampshire - Where are you located?? We just moved from Warrenton (Northern VA) up here to the cold country.

Miss the beautiful Piedmont but am enjoying the mountains now.

Good luck with the new machine.

So you killed your old brother, huh?...felt like that sometimes, but never followd thru, LOL! :D :D

Rose Hall 03-26-2009 08:16 AM

I also sew on a Brother machine--mine is 60 years old. It was my Grandmothers' machine. It only has a straight stitch, no fancy stuff for this machine!

Welcome from Florida!

paojava 03-31-2009 04:58 AM

yep, I killed my brother...and now have a kenmore that I REALLY like!!!

I live around Fredericksburg...a bit south actually.

And...I have not been around (already) because we have been super busy with schooling and...I FINISHED MY QUILT!

Well...it was suppossed to be a king sized monster, and DH asked if it could be smaller so he could keep it on the sofa. Now, I have to sandwich, quilt and bind it...

Are you going to the craft fair this weekend in Fredricksburg? My mom, 2 year old and I are planning to attend.

I thought it was at a civic center. I guess I need to look it up so I know where I'm going...

Welcome to Fredericksburg! The craft show will be great as usual. You will enjoy it if you can attend.

Granny B 03-31-2009 03:20 PM

The craft show is at the Expo Center.

paojava 04-08-2009 05:03 AM

well, my and son and I went. I did get a couple things...mostly for the kid, of course!

Do you know if there is a Quilt Show in VA?

beachlady 04-08-2009 05:16 AM

Welcome from Maine. I am going to check out block central. Love that block. And your son and friends are so cute. I used to go to my early morning college classes in my nightgown and knee socks and a long coat. (That was in the 60's though.)

This board is great!

shaverg 04-08-2009 05:20 AM

Hey, since I broke my leg and was not allowed out of bed for over 3 months and lived in my PJs. I really miss them and some days if not going anywhere I still stay in mine. By the way that block is beautiful and love the colors.

What part of VA are you interested in?

Central VA area (Altavista) is having quilt show on May 2.

I've never been before--but I've never been to a "bad" quilt show!

Rose
ps. I picked up a tea mug for my assistant's bday at the craft fair. don't know that I would pay $300 to rent a booth, but it was fun to go as a shopper.

Granny B 04-08-2009 06:12 AM

Hampton VA has biggest quilt show of the East Coast (as far as I know) usually in March. There is another big show at the Dulles Expo Center in the Fall. Other than that there are regional and local quilt shows and they're advertised in the papers. The shows at Hampton and Dulles are very good.

paojava 04-08-2009 02:00 PM

oooooooh...Altavista is almost 4 hrs from me! I can probably go to the Dulles one in the fall--I will have to keep my eyes open. Too bad I missed the Hampton show! DARN AND DRAT!
