This board is great and I am floored by all the beautiful work I see! I am very new to quilting; bought a few books, but until you actually do something I don't think you can really understand it. So I purchased material and started cutting squares and just last night sewed a few together. I can only imagine what the finished quilt will look like, but I have to start somewhere! I am thinking this will be a small lap quilt. Any suggestions for simple projects to help me learn? Thanks for any help!

Welcome from North Carolina. When I first started, I did basic 6 inch squares. Then I moved to using squares in a four-patch, nine-patch pattern. I've moved from squares to rectangles to triangles in the last few years. Start simple and then stretch yourself from there. Don't be afraid to ask questions and pick everyone's brains here, there are are alot of very accomplished quilters on this board.
