New member, new quilter!

Hello everyone,

I am from the UK, I've been doing different crafts all my life but only sewing for a little while, and I have never quilted anything, despite really, really wanting to have a go. I just found the maple leaf mug rug tutorial (Maple Leaf Mug Rugs - Pictorial Tutorial & Pattern) and am going to try it tonight as soon as the sprogs are in bed - no chance of any peace and quiet with a three year old and an almost two year old! I love Autumn colours, and leaf designs, so this is just perfect, I hope I can do it justice!

Welcome from Baltimore, Maryland! You'll do just fine but I know what you mean about sewing with the kids. I watch my granddaughter aged 18 months and just one is a handful. Happy quilting!!

Welcome Dandelion from Florida. It can definitely be challenging to get things done with little ones in the house. Have fun with your mug rugs.

Getting quilting done with small children can be nearly impossible. It takes a great love of quilting and a lot of perseverance to get anything done. Some days I can only quilt for 10 minutes. But I love my granddaughter and cherish each moment with her. They grow up so fast. I am sew glad that you found this wonderful board. You will find everything you need here. Welcome and waving from Colorado

Woo hoo, I'm done - that was really quick, even with a break in the middle for the last episode of Poldark :) I am completely thrilled with it! Although, I will use thicker batting next time, it's a bit thin.

Dandelion, welcome to the QB - it is a really great place to learn and share! I love how your maple leaf turned out - perfect in the very first try! I was so surprised today to get your comment.
Good luck sewing with your little ones! Just think of the quilts you will be able to make for them!
