This is this first time I have posted anything. I am a new member. I have a question for anybody that can help me. I have a lot of small pieces of material some match and some don't. I don't know what to do with them. I have been quilting for a few years now and love it. I can do real good on making the quilt but I have a lot of problems with the binding. I can never get the binding the look good. Can anyone help me?

Hi Jewelps and welcome to the board from Washington State.
There is a great site that will show you ways to use up your small pieces fo material to make quilts at: http://www.quiltville.com/ As for your binding question I know there are many, many more people here better suited to answer that question. I can tell you that when I got stuck on a binding a while back I found a YouTube video that helped me out. It was good to actually SEE someone show how to attach a binding. |
welcome from montana

Welcome from Southern California. I love to make "scrap" quilts with lots of different fabrics, they don't match? who cares, use value to get a great look, light/dark/ med. I can't help much, I am a gimp right now and am severely limited on my typing ability

Hi and Welcome from Northenr Indiana ! As suggested for the pieces make a srap quilt .. you can use any size pieces and colors
As for the binding Utube has some great demos that have been suggested by other posters. have you tried a utube search ? |
Welcome from Florida! If one method of binding doesn't work for you, try another. You can use a "birthing" method and have no bias to worry about. Another option is to make the back extra wide, so it can be folded and sewn directly to the front.
If you want a separate binding and do not have a scalloped or curved edge, you may find a straight edged binding has less stretch, especially if you starch the dickens out of it before you attach it. |
Hello and Welcome :D :D :D
Check out Sharon Schamber's video on binding, too  |

Here are a couple of good web sites. The second one really tells you how to end you binding and is a really good tutorial.

I LOVE lefse! Got some when I was in Seattle a number of years ago at the Public Market Center. Have a recipe, but haven't made it for years! Thanks for reminding me of the delicacy!

Lefse is best slathered with soft butter and a spoon of lingonberries on top, rolled up. Oh, was a joy to be a Swede! Edie
