New from Missouri
Good morning quilting friends!
I live in Missouri and have been quilting for several years. I will be retiring in a few months and have been thinking about purchasing a used long arm machine. Someone has a 2005 Husqvarna Mega Quilter with a Inspira 10 foot quilting frame. I have been looking on line to try to find how much it would be worth, but probably due to the age I have not been able to find any information. Does anyone have an idea where I could go to get this information? Thanks so much! Karen |

Hi Karen, and welcome from Southern California. Having a longarm will open new sewing vistas for you. There's a long learning curve and going online will be a big help, especially if you're not buying from a nearby dealer. I'm lucky that my son keeps mine in good working order. I've downloaded lots of classes from Craftsy/Bluprint, no longer in business. Corona 19 is giving me the opportunity to look at them and become better at long arming. Good luck!

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. I don’t have a long arm but having access to dealer or repair tech for whatever machine you invest in, is an asset.

Welcome from Texas. I know nothing about long arm machines but admire the beautiful results you can get from them. Good luck on your search. Do your homework before committing to a used machine. Ask the seller lots of questions.

One of the first things to find out is if it's a "mid arm" which has only about 9" of throat space, which will be fine if you only do small quilts but larger ones will have trouble quilting them. I had a mega quilter when they first came out, I had so much trouble with it that I returned it and got my money back, and that was about 2005, after my mom died. You might check out a Bailey quilting machine, you can get either a sit down or a frame for very reasonable. I bought my 20" Bailey about 3 years ago and absolutely love it.
