Hello, I have been quilting since October of last year. My 46 year old cousin passed away on Xmas Eve from a year long battle of lung cancer. We spent the last 3 months of her life having her teach me how to quilt. I then was diagnosed with a nerve disease and the quilting has become my much needed therapy. I hand sew all my quilt tops and I quilt every single day and don't know what my life would be without it!!! I am happy to be here and happy to have a great site to see so many great projects and get some great advice. Happy Quilting!!

I am so glad I could motivate you. I was a cross stitcher for about 25 years prior to learning how to quilt, so the hand stitching comes very easy to me. I would love to see your project when you finish!!!!

I am so sorry to hear about your sister. Was she a quilter also? You are correct, I have such great memories and I do think of Ferz (Jennifer) every single time I quilt. I was given the honor of doing her Eulogy and I talked a lot about this wonderful gift she gave me. She would have LOVED this site.

Hi and another Texas welcome. I love that animal fabric. It is so adorable! Your quilting is nicely done, beginner or no. Glad you joined us here. I too was introduced to quilting by a friend, who was diagnosed with cancer shortly thereafter. I hope she knows I've kept it up. It was such a special gift from her to me. Everything I do keeps her in my heart.
