I'm a new quilter and need to find a pattern for 2 baby quilts with the theme of Cowboy and Cowgirl (1 of each), my cousin is having twins and I would love to make her a couple of quilts. However, I'm new so I will need something for a beginner or at least a pattern that is easily followed.
Can anyone suggest a pattern or have any ideasor advice that I might be able to follow?
Thank you in advance, I look forward to hearing back from fellow quilters.
Roxann

Welcome to the board from Southern California!!!!

Any beginner pattern would work if you have fabrics with the Cowboy or Cowgirl theme. A favorite of mine at the beginning of my quilting was Yellow Brick Road. You will get lots of suggestions here.

Hi and welcome from upstate New York!

How about a 9 patch alternated with a square of the cowboy/girl fabric?

Check out this.... it is adorable and will go well with your quilts!!!

Hi Roxann
Here is a 4 patch alternated with dog and cat prints but it will give you an idea.... it is even easier than a 9 patch~

Lee, Thank you very much. This looks like it's something I could do. I can find some cute cowboy and cowgirl material in place of the dog and cat's and customize the other colors for each. This looks like it might be the one. Thanks again.

Find some cowboy and cowgirl fabric. There's a lot of it out there. Cut it so that it is 30 inches wide and 40 inches long. Then add borders that coordinate, until you get a quilt that's about 36 inches wide and about 45 inches long. Choose a back that coordinates, quilt them and you will have good and impressive baby quilts in a hurry. Adding the borders will give you lots of practice sewing that 1/4 inch seam. froggyintexas

Welcome from central Minnesota. A disappearing nine patch, 4 patch or nine patch is an easy quilt to do.

Froggyin Texas, Thank you for the help. I truly am just beginning to quilt and I don't know even all the basics that people talk about and have been on the web-site for the last couple of days trying to figure it all out. I've only made simple blankets and one quilt so far and it was not anything like the quilts that I'm seeing here and of course I really want to learn the right way but need help. So, the fact that you gave me specifics really helps. Thanks again and if there is anything else you can think of that would help me out, it would be much appreciated.
