New to quilting

Hi...

My name is Tracey. I live in Indiana, and by the way.....it is freezing outside. Good time to wrap up in a quilt.

I got a new sewing machine from my daughter for Christmas. I want to make each one of my children and grandchildren a quilt to remember me by when it is my time to move on. I know it is going to take some time. Because I need to find the right pattern that I can do, as I am a beginner. And one that suits them. I want to make them big enough for their beds.

My daughter wants a zebra print with a red boarder. I found a pattern that I like, but it calls for 8 different colors. So I might have to do less colors and see how it works. On scrap material, of course. I thought about stitching red through out the quilt to hold the material together instead of tacking it. My machines dog feet don't drop so I can't do the curvy kind. Unless I just haven"t found out how they drop.

I am glad that I have found this forum.

Hi, neighbor! I'm also fairly new to quilting (a few throws and one pieced top that isn't yet quilted), but this place is so inspiring that I am currently working on my second bed sized quilt top. Can't wait to finish it and start working on the quilting part!
Stick around...you'll love it here!

Hi and welcome from New York. No problem if you cannot lower your feed dogs. You can always cover them or just sew without lowering them. All you need is darning foot and lots of practice. Lots of info on the web and here on QB on how to FMQ.
