Have sewn for many years but never tried quilting until just recently. Have made three Stack and Slash then I got brave and tried REAL quilting. Turned out okay but sure do need to improve. Recently finished the top for a Texas Star Quilt for my daughter for Xmas. Will appreciate any and all advice you want to give.

Welcome from Massachusetts. My only advice is practice and do not be afraid to make a mistake - that is how we learn to do better. You will certianly receive lots of advice and encouragement here!

Hello from Ontario, Canada! Remember quilting is for fun! There are no mistakes, if you turn them into opportunities to learn and advance.

How ironic that my first reply should be from Mass. I was born and brought up in Mass and NH. Thanks for the welcome and I will keep quilting away.

I read somewhere that the Amish (I think) would intentionally make a mistake in their quilts to keep them original....that mentality makes ALL my quilts originals ;)

Welcome from Middle Tennessee...I too am a newbie to this site and LOVE it. Quilting is like any other interest you take up...practice, Pactice, PRACTICE...but it is so rewarding to make and give treasures like a quilts.

Make sure you have the 1/4" foot with the flange on the right side. Will improve patchwoork 100%. I promise. If you get stuck for an "old time" pattern let me know. Ky. is full of them.
