I joined this site today and am excited to join in any forums. I have sewn for over 40 yrs.now(Boy that makes me sound REALLY old.
When I started to sew"Polyester fabrics" were everywhere. Sewing machines had slant needles and cottons needed to be ironed. Irons did not have auto shut offs.(what I wouldn't give to have one of those today) My favorite fabrics are flannels;cotton quilting fabric; lace and eyelet trims. first remembered project was a 4-H apron on a plastic hoop.Love to sew and cook.

Welcome from Massachusetts!

40 yrs does sound bad, not for you, though, but when I realized that I graduated from high school 40 yrs ago next month

I also sewed an apron for a 4-H fair project. I think I still have it tucked away.

Hello and welcome to the Board!

gotchacovered 05-21-2011 09:25 AM

This is such a great site. Wish I had this available when we lived in Alaska. Unfortunately where we lived then it was so rural that there was no internet. How did we survive?

gotchacovered 05-21-2011 09:27 AM

What your weather like today? Ours is overcast;with lite sprinkles of rain. Good day to sew something. Have a great day. Your son is adorable. Mine are now 28&30.

gotchacovered 05-21-2011 09:33 AM

What a beautiful quilt. Did you create it? Only have the patience to make small baby/lap quilts. When I lived in Alaska I knew other ladies in the village that made really beautiful large quilts .They worked on the blocks for weeks at a time;especially in the winter when it was dark and cold. Took them a year or so to complete them (the quilt top) and then they had to be shipped to Anchorage/Fairbanks to be put together and finished.I guess patience is not one of my stronger points. Thanks for the welcome. Marcy

I live in Bellingham ,Washington. Was born and raised in Ferndale, Washington. Thank-you for the welcome. I enjoy visiting with others who like to sew. Experience is a great asset when you need questions answers. Hope your weekend is going well and the weather is nice. Marcy

Thank-you for the warm welcome to this site. I am relatively new to this form of communication;but so far it is "sweet". The quilt in your avatar is absolutely beautiful. What beautiful colors. Did you create it? Hope you have a good day. Is your weather warm or cold? Our weather is overcast with light sprinkling of rain. Temps in upper 40-lower 50's. Spring is slow this year. Marcy

gotchacovered 05-21-2011 09:49 AM

Thanks for the "welcome" to the site. It's great to hear from others who enjoy sewing and collecting fabric. Has spring arrived in Idaho yet? It is slow this year on our side of the mountain. A few warm, sunny days but more cool wet ones. Crops are behind and gardens are just not growing much. Something about "thermo index" I guess. But we sure enjoy the good days and remember them when the other ones arrive. Have a wonderful weekend. Marcy
