My name is Carina. I am 53 years old and a redundant mother. Three kids are 29, 26 and 21. I am at home all day and started quilting when my daughter left home in 2009. I live in Stellenbosch in South Africa and my obsession is cats. I have 6 of them and they rule the roost:)

Down here in darkest Africa we have to import just about everything, so quilting is quite an expensive hobby. But I love it and hope I can get answers here at times

welcome from Oklahoma!
When I lived in the Darkest of Alaska I had an online friend in AFrica and we often exchanged stories of how hard and expensive quilting supplies were to get. She made me a wonderful rotary cutter pouch out of some African cloth they made in her town. It was great!
I hope you feel at home here and will enjoy the friends you make!

A warm welcome for cold North Dakota. Llove all the inspiration, as I am also a newbie. So many patterns, so much fabric and not enough time. Have a great weekend.

cat2quilt 02-10-2012 06:34 PM

I am impressed that given the cost you still love to quilt. I look forward to reading about your work.
