Hi Everyone!
As the title suggests, i'm new here, but also new to quilting! My name is Barb, born and raised in Detroit MI. I have 10 brothers and sisters and i'm smack in the middle! I'm married, 3 kids, a grandson and have a dog named Dude. I'm recently retired and don't have many hobbies but I do have a passion for genealogy and have been very successful in tracing my family roots. I recently started quilting at the urge of my niece who had taken a class to learn how. I figured, why not! So, I got everything I needed to begin this new adventure. It was advised that since I never sewn anything in my life, I would start out with a rail-fence quilt. I'm about half the way finished and all I can say is that I think the bug bit me pretty bad! I have already started building a stash, picking out my next quilt (D9P) and telling the hubby that I need my own corner...:-) What a wonderful thing quilting is! I have attached a picture of what will soon be my first quilt. Since the photo was taken, the squares have been sewn into strips and I hope to finish the borders by Monday. There wasn't enough room to lay out all the squares on the floor but you can get a good peek at it. In a one of the pictures, you can see where I laid the material for the two borders on the floor next to the quilt and think it goes pretty good. Thanks for looking! Not enough room to lay it all out, will be a queen size. The black will be a 6 inch border and the other will be a 2 inch. |
