One of the best books I bought was Joanns guide to quilting. Use a coupon and it's under 15.00. Shows you everything you could imagine and it covers what your looking for. A friend of mine finishes her quilts that way. She says its easy...Happy quilting and good luck!

You can fold over and stitch it down. Youtube is a great source for quilting. I did one quilt this way and it's fine. Now I usually make my own binding. If it's a special quilt I think doing it by hand makes a nice finish. If it's a kids quilt that will get used/washed a bunch then I'd machine-sew it.

And Welcome to the Quilting Board!
