I have been looking on here for awhile and love all the pictures of your sewing and animals. I have only did jean quilts. Mostly I like doing smaller things like table runners, tote bags, Barbie clothes. Batik fabrics are my favorite. I have all this batik fabric that I just keep buying and looking at. Right now I'm working on table toppers using a hexigon template. I mostly make stuff for our church picnic and church prime rib dinners.

Hello and welcome from the UK!

My brother use to live Okla. He was a brick layer and didn't like being so high up in the air laying brick with the wind blowing the board he stood on. This is the best quilting forum I have found.

Hi, and welcome from St. Paul, Minnesota!!!!!
I took care of my neighbor's house, cat and garden while she was in Alaska for a week. She brought me back a gift for taking care of her home. I also love batik and she knows it. She brought me back six fat quarters of batik. On the label it says "A gift from Alaska - The Quilted Raven". They are absolutely fantastic, lavender, purple, almost black purple; shades of red, red-orange and orange leaves; maple leaves, oak leaves in a blue background with yellow, gold, maroony-reds and shades of green; goldish background with green shaded moose walking on greeny type ground and trees; aqua, purple, orange shaded colors of little Eskimo children (and you have to look close to see that they are children) and a purple and chartreuse swirly fabric. They are absolutely fantastic. I just tell you this because maybe you are interested in Alaskan batik. It is The Quilted Raven - 650 W. 4th Avenue, Ancorage, Alaska 99501, (907)278-3521. I am making her a Sampler quilt for Christmas (coverlet) and one of the blocks will be of pieces from each one of the fat quarters. Just a thought! Edie |

The only pictures I have with just leftover fabric that I made clothes with. Will have to dig for them. I traded plastic canvas patterns for Barbie furniture in a sewing forum years back. I forgot what country she was from. She e-mailed copies of old Barbie clothes patterns that I had back in the 70's. Mine had wore out. Now I bought a lot when I could get them cheap. I now iron interfacing on the back so they last longer. A couple of years ago Vogue came out with retro patterns of old Barbie patterns so I bought more. I do that with clothes patterns I like and use a lot too before I can't get anymore of the pattern.
We had 6 inches of rain last night, a foot of water on our street. One time we had 3 feet on the street. Our house is on the hill so we don't have to worry. A lot of bridges washed and high ways were shut. Husband couldn't go to work today. 40 miles south of us had 13 inches. All this goes into the Mississippi River. |
I forgot to tell you I clip all the sleeves and press before I sew them for the Barbie clothes. I started making them in 1968 for my godchild with leftover fabric. Now I have a stash just for Barbie clothes. How crazy is that.
