Hello everyone, I am from Northern NY, I have been logging on and reading everything on here for a couple weeks and thought it was time to join in. I am so happy to read all the interesting posts that make me laugh and think, "at least I am not the only one." I have been sewing for many, many years and always wanted to make a quilt, but 10 years ago was diagnosed with RA, and it is the worst in my hands, it kept me from sewing for a few years, but then two years ago when my oldest was having our first grandchild, I knew I had to make the little one a quilt, and bibs, and burp clothes, and some taggies, and etc., etc... Well, it was well worth the pain, and I have been sewing like mad every since, I will try and post the first quilt I made, which was appliqued with bugs. I don't know if I will every be able to make a large quilt, but that is OK, I have two more grandbabies due this summer, so now I have to make 2 more, and of course more bibs, burp clothes, play mats, etc... that will keep me busy for a few months.

Welcome from Nebraska! You will have lots of fun here.
I use those gloves that have no finger tips in them. I also use a lotion with Capsaicin in it for the pain. Doing dishes by hand in HOT water before sewing also helps. |

Welcome to the board! I don't do very many big quilts either (not anymore). I just enjoy baby quilts. You can try new patterns, new fabrics, etc. and be finished quickly. I machine piece and hand quilt, so I try to keep something handy to work on. Grand babies are going to keep you busy! What fun!

Welcome from Oregon! Aren't grandkids wonderful? They can get us to do things we never thought we would. I hope you'll post some pictures of your work soon. Maybe quilting is good therapy for RA.

You are a quilter - no matter the size of the quilt. Working with fabric sliding through our fingers is so relaxing - to me, anyway.
