Hi,

I'm new to the forum but not the Northwest. I've sewn since I could badger my mother at the age of 7 into letting me use her Singer Golden Touch-N-Sew to make a dress. Sewing has been an addition ever since.

I'm really wondering if there are any Pfaff users, particularly the 2144 that I can chat with regarding some specific quirks the Pfaff posseses - like will I really burn out the bobbin light by not using the blue Pfaff bobbins?

I have other questions....queries...posers....would love to hear from anyone.

P.S. The photo is of my orange cat Gabbie who insists on sitting nearby whenever I am piecing or sewing. The photo shows her 'helping' me sort pieces of childhood fabric for a grandmother's flower garden quilt.

Lisa, welcome to the forum. I broke out laughing when you mentioned your cat's name is Gabbie. My male orange looks exactly like Gabbie and he talks so much I should have named him Gabbie. Sometimes he walks thru the house talking, but most often he yells Maaaaaa Maaaaaa which usually means he wants some food. If he can see the bottom of his dish he is sure he will starve. AJ has one other endearing quality, he likes to quilt. He will jump up on the back of my sewing table and help the fabric thru the machine. LOL

Gabbie will watch from a distance, but our calico will hop on the chair and watch the embroidery. She scared herself silly once becuase the machine finished and the hoop came towards her! :)

AJ sounds hilarious. It's amazing what happens in our house when the
crunchy bowls have holes...they think they waste away to bones and fur!

I have a Pfaff 2140. I have lots of questions and wish I could have lessons, even tho I use it all the time and have had it for 5 or 6 years. I love it, but am unhappy that I don't know more advanced things about it.

I have a Pfaff - not that model, but I do know that they can be very picky machines. I can only use good thread (Coats and Clarks will get in there and freeze the whole thing up). I also have to be careful about cleaning off the lint every time I use it. Guess it forces a good habit. I use pre-wound bobbins all the time (I'm lazy about bobbin winding) and have never had a problem with them.
My repair shop guy told me that every Pfaff has it's own personality. Mine is a diva, but I lover her anyway.

Greetings from Sacramento CA and a previous Pfaffanista. I have an older machine which works really well and then I got the Performance 2058 which is very temperamental. She also uses the blue bobbins. My thought on that is: If changing the bobbin could cause something internal to go wrong, I'd use the bobbins recommended for the machine.

As for the low bobbin indicator, mine has gone out before when a piece of lint got in the way of the sensor. The 2058 has an annoying low bobbin indicator that actually beeps, shows on the display AND stops sewing instead of the blinking light. That was one reason why I just changed brands: From Pfaff to Babylock.
