I crazy quilted placemats to match the colors in my kitchen and dining room....

I made clear plastic sleeves to protect the placemats!

I went to my local JoAnn store and looked through their pattern books: McCalls, Simplicity, etc. I looked at the home decor and craft sections. I bought a nice pattern and already made some. You might try that. Good luck!

How about doing holiday placemats.....for every occassion you can think of. I am actually searching for patterns or ideas to do this. They are quick and you feel like you accomplish something, plus they are handy. It is just my husband and myself most of the time, so it is really fast to do just 2.

I make placemats all the time, I use an old placemat or buy a plastic one for the pattern. Most of the time I will make them reversible, (one side Christmas other side Thanksgiving ), this sell a lot at our craft sale at church. Plus your could do other holidays too. Round placemats are nice to make too.
