Well I know those are the quilts that I do finish, but they sort of stay home and many times in the closet. I have a couple I am working on. I try to never leave an unfinished quilt. At this rate of trying to have perfect 1/4 inch seams I will always be quilting. Hopefully one day I can make a quilt with perfect seams, but then I will have to work on other areas.

Hello Pat, welcome from Oklahoma!!!
|
Well.... my 1/4" seams were always off... so decided that I needed a machine with constant feed dogs (always in contact with the fabric).. Believe me, it does really help, as I'm closer now to perfection...
BUT... buying a more expensive machine doesn't fix the problem as I'd hoped. My seam ripper is still fully employed... signed... Still Struggling |
some fabric stretches more than others. If you use steam and/or iron (instead of just pressing) the seams, sometimes the fabric gets distorted. May also be a reason to prewash. Also, I have less problems with higher quality fabric
take your time learn to tug a bit, scrinch (my own personal term) a bit to make seams line up use pins (I don't but I am not that particular about my seams) press seams the so that they lock when you put them together. In the end, remember that quilting is supposed to be fun! |
Welcome from El Paso...it is nothing new to be a little off. OH,,,, you are talking about quilting...silly me.

Hi Pat, welcome from northern California! I am so new to quilting that I can't really offer any help.
