t shirt quilt
I am trying to make a t shirt quilt for my grandson. Problem is how to attach the numbers to the squares and sew them where they do not shift. Material is real stretchy and I have ripped out so many times.

Most t-shirt quilts are made by ironing a fusible interfacing on the back of the t-shirts to stabilize them. The squares are then sashed with regular quilting cotton. If you are trying to sew regular unprepared t-shirt squares to each other, you will need to use a knit overlock stitch?
I am not understanding the number reference. Are you trying to sew appliqué numbers to the t-shirts? If so without the fusible behind the t-shirts you are going to get stretch.

Well said, Tartan! That's exacty what I do. Remember that there is a stretchy side and a super stretchy side with all knits. I put a lengthwise grain to a cross grain (stretchy to super stretchy) and that helps with stability too. If one layer of stabiliser is not enough, iron another one onto it. There are different grades (thicknesses). It's not expensive and it will make a BIG difference to the amount of stretch you have to deal with. HTH Capri
