I am setting up a new sewing room and would like suggestions for how to store things such as scissors, bobbins, etc on a wall. I would like the storage to include small "boxes" that hang from the wall and can hold smaller items.

My suggestion: Don't do peg boards... I really don't like the look of them.
Check out some of the organizer stores and see what they have done. Elfa (sp?) storage systems are cool.

shoe holder, like you buy in the closet organizing section. They have usually like 15 or so slots. Can't say enough about having a peg board though!
Congrats on your new sewing room. Don't forget to post pics!

Maybe check out storage solutions at the auto store or the hardware store? Tool Time Tuesday, by sewmanyways, has had several storage ideas of the years. Check out her blog and click on the "tool time tuesday" label.

Ikea has some really attractive "storage solutions." Not all items are available for purchase online, but it might at least give you some ideas you could adapt.

Welcome from south central Kentucky!!

Since I don't like clutter, I don't store my items on the wall. My sewing/cutting/pressing station is a huge, solid wood door on two filing cabinets. The filing cabinets hold all ofthe small items (pins, seam rippers, tape measures, rotary cutters, etc).

Since I like my scissors to be handy, I have them on my "door" in a cute metal bucket.

Good luck!
