Have you tried the tutorial for "Glad all Over" that is posted by by Quilting Quickly (Fons and Porter) @ https://www.youtube.com/embed/WdntzirD8ho? I made this quilt last year, as it was the easiest Card Trick pattern I could find and it turned out nice! Charmedinmissouri - like that f&p version too! Watched the tute...easy to do from it, except she doesn't mention size of sashing...looks like smaller than 2 1/2" cut...maybe more like 1 1/2"?

Mine is 2 1/2", but I do not remember the size they mentioned in the tutorial. Since these blocks are made of mostly 2 1/2" strips, I thought I would stick with that size. I made a 9 patch for my son in December, and that was the first I had ever tried 1 1/2" strips as sashing. It looks great with that quilt, but not much room to try out very many patterns/motifs. But I am still a baby quilter, LOL!
