Is that great restaurant with the Tenderlion sandwiches still across the street. Southern Iowa is the only place to get tenderlion sandwiches. That restaurant, the one in Milton and the one at the Keosauqua Y. Are my favorites but then we stop in Davenport to get one there as soon as we cross the state line. Do you think I like them??

Tenderloins are my DH's prefered sandwich too. He loves them! I think that restaurant is closed. I haven't seen it open. They may be closed for the winter and open in spring I don't know. I should have asked.

We love the Steak and Pizza Restaurant in Keosauqua. It has great food! There is also a restaurant in Kahoka my mom loves. They collect coffee cups and the whole ceiling is covered in coffee cups. They close once a year for 2 weeks just to take down and clean all the coffee cups!

I guess I am a SE Iowa gal and are you telling me tenderloins are an Iowa thing only? Guess I never really went anywhere to see that. I just assume most small restaurants have a tenderloin. I know the big restaurants don't usually.

As far as I have found South Eastern Iowa is the only place to get those. Especially the big plate size. Come to think of it there is a place across the border in Missouri that has them also.
Oh Gee going to have to make a road trip to get me a sandwich SOON!!
    And some more batiks.

A road-trip get-together this spring/summer sounds like fun. Count me in!! There's a restaurant on the east outside Cantril that has good food, incl'g tenderloins.
(Maybe the place in town moved to this location?) I've never been to Rutledge but have heard it's fun!

Have you ever been to the Catfish Place restaurant? I don't know that they have tenderloins but it's a great place to eat. It is a buffet of all the catfish you can eat and chicken and lots of country sides. They do hushpuppies and corn on the cob coleslaw and potato salad of course and lots more sides. It's all you can eat and the tables have red checked clothes and the napkins are paper towels! I kid you not! There is outdoor seating facing the pond. You can pay to fish there and they will cook your own fish for you if you prefer. It is alot of fun to go to. It is just beyond Cantril a ways. at Arbela Mo.

I grow up 7 miles south of the Catfish Place. I do love to shop at the Rutledge store for fabric and groceries. I love in the Des Moines area and have for 25 years.
